12/26/07 - Radio show & Jan. MAPP meets
Hi Everyone,
This email is about this Thursday’s radio show and January’s meetings including our first ever meeting in Riverside!!!!
Radio show
Marijuana Compassion and Common Sense – the radio show is on at its new time – Thursdays at 7 p.m. This Thursday, the show features an interview with long time activist Richard Cowan. Among Richard’s many accomplishments has been Director of NORML from 1992-1995, an advisory board member to the Drug Policy Foundation and currently editor and publisher of www.marijuananews.com.
Richard has recently published an article in Chicago’s Windy City Times about AIDS and marijuana and this will be a special focus of Thursday’s interview. This is an interactive radio show and you can call in and speak with Richard during the show at 909-888-5222.
Marijuana Compassion and Common Sense is broadcast on radio station KCAA, 1050 AM. If you are not in its broadcast area of the western portions of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, you can hear the live simulcast on the Internet at www.kcaaradio.com. At the top of the home page, click on the top gold button that says Listen Live! If you would like to watch me waving my hands in the air in the KCAA studios as I do the show, then click on the gold button on the left hand column that reads KCAA TV.
Mark you calendars for this Thursday and every Thursday at 7 p.m. for Marijuana Compassion and Common Sense – the Radio Show.
Speaking of marking your calendars – it’s time to mark your new 2008 calendar for the January meetings of MAPP including our first ever meeting in Riverside.
Cathedral City MAPP meeting – Saturday, Jan. 5 at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral City Library, 33520 Date Palm Drive. Our guest speakers will be medical marijuana patients and long time MAPP activists, JoAnn and Rich McCable, the 74 year-old great grandmother and grandfather who were arrested and our now facing trial for possessing and cultivating marijuana.
High Desert MAPP meeting – Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Red Barn Feed Store, 350 S. Old Woman Springs Road (Hwy 247) in Flamingo Heights. This store is hard to find at night, so you will have to keep a sharp eye out for it. The meeting will focus on the defense fund being established for JoAnn and Rich and planning for a January presentation before the San Bernardino Board of Supervisors.
Inland Empire MAPP meeting – Sunday, January 13 at 1 p.m. at the THCF Medical Clinic, 647 N. Main Street, Suite 1-B, in Riverside. This meeting will focus on the organization of a new patient support group and law reform organization in the western parts of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. If you haven’t seen the new THCF medical clinic and mmj patient education center, this would be a great opportunity to see the clinic and get in on the ground floor of what is sure to be a fantastic new organization.
FYI, the THCF Clinic is now open and is scheduling appointments for medical marijuana evaluations and recommendations. To speak with a staff member (that’s me) and to schedule an appointment, call 951-782-9898.
I will be sending out more detailed information about January’s MAPP meetings in the next few days, but mark your calendars now so you won’t forget. Coming to these meetings is a great way to start the New Year on a positive and constructive note. If you have any questions or need more information, give me a call at 760-799-2055 or send me an email.
Have a great New Year’s Eve and day.
